About the Home Heat Loss Awareness Program

MyHEAT helps you see relative heat loss occurring in your home.

See where heat loss occurs

A colored map of your home’s roof shows where heat loss may be leaking from your home.

See how much heat loss occurs

A rating of 1-10 helps you understand how much heat loss may be leaking from your home.

The Heat Loss Map and HEAT Rating shown above are examples only.

We respect your privacy

Heat Loss Maps do not reveal any personal or private information about a home.

Does not see into your home

Heat Loss Maps are not x-rays, and they cannot see inside your home.

The map cannot tell if a person is at home, and does not see through windows or walls.

Information is Secure

Safeguarding the confidentiality of your information is of the utmost importance.

MyHEAT uses industry-standard cybersecurity best practices to protect information.

Who is MyHEAT and what is the program offering?

MyHEAT is a technology company that uses aerial thermal infrared images of rooftops to help customers assess heat loss and visually pinpoint where heat may be escaping from their homes.

MyHEAT offers an educational platform that helps customers see their home’s heat loss from a bird’s-eye view, compare it to similar homes in their area, and connect them to energy-efficiency programs through National Grid, such as a no-cost Home Energy Assessment, weatherization incentives of 75 to 100% off insulation, and new heat pump heating and cooling technology that helps keep your home comfortable all year long.

As a National Grid customer, there is no cost for you to access Heat Loss Insights through your unique online profile when the program is launched.

We have teamed up with MyHEAT to promote awareness of energy efficiency and help customers save energy as part of a new program. Not all residents will be able to access home heat loss details during the program period.

You may be receiving general information about this program that provides you with a unique link to your home profile to learn more about your home’s heat loss and energy-saving opportunities. This information is provided for educational purposes only, and you are not required to complete any actions if you receive engagement through this program. We do recommend, however, learning more about available rebate programs.

Thermal data was collected using a world-class sensor in January 2023 for homes within the program area. Data is collected with a plane at night when the outside temperature is right around freezing. The collection method is similar to how Google Maps are created and MyHEAT’s sensor cannot see into homes or through structures to preserve the privacy of customers.

With thermal data, MyHEAT identifies where heat loss is occurring from a bird’s-eye view. This is done using machine learning algorithms, and the final result is the creation of unique heat loss ratings and heat loss maps for individual buildings–offered to customers through an educational platform.

The rating for your home was calculated using measured temperatures, and is being compared to nearby buildings similar in size and age. The lower a building’s rating the less heat it is losing.

If you would like to learn more about your home’s Heat Loss rating or want to schedule a no-cost Home Energy Assessment, National Grid’s energy efficiency experts are available to help and can be reached at 1-800-630-8300.

If the upgrades were made after the collection date of January 2023, the analysis will not capture them.

If you have questions or would like to opt-out of this program, please email ngridma@myheat.ca.
