MyHEAT — Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Our policy that ensures a positive viewing experience of the MyHEAT data.

This Privacy Policy describes our policy guidelines for the collection and use of personal or corporate information that you provide to MyHEAT Inc. (“MyHEAT”) through use of the MyHEAT website and MyHEAT data. Your right to privacy is very important, and our Privacy Policy is in place to protect your person information, address any concerns regarding how we collect the MyHEAT data, and to ensure a positive viewing experience of the MyHEAT data. We recognize that when you choose to provide us with information about yourself, you trust us to act in a responsible manner. As you use our services, we want you to understand how we are using information and the ways in which you can protect your privacy. This Privacy Policy governs your use of the MyHEAT platform for both mobile and desktop devices.

The Heat Loss Maps and Heat Ratings (collectively referred to as the “MyHEAT data”) seen on our platform are intended to enhance your viewing experience by helping you visualize the amount and location of invisible waste heat leaving your home. At MyHEAT, we go through great lengths to make sure that our data (Heat Loss Maps and Heat Ratings) are accurate, useful, and beneficial to users.

When Using Our Platform

Sources of Imagery

Thermal imagery is collected using a thermal sensor attached to the bottom of an airplane. We only collect mid-wave thermal infrared energy (3-5 µm) emitted from the surface of the features (i.e., houses, roads, vegetation) composing the scene at the time of acquisition. We do not collect, or have access to, any information regarding the number of occupants in a house, their age, gender, race, income, or the occupancy status of the home. We also cannot identify any contents within the home. Furthermore, this imagery is not collected in real-time.

Where Imagery Appears

All content that is published on the MyHEAT platform is public. If you wish to remove your home from the MyHEAT platform, please send us an email, and it will be removed within 10 business days. The MyHEAT data may also appear in authorized third-party websites from our collaborators such as Town of Okotoks, Union Gas, and on social or print media for marketing purposes.

We do not allow individuals to use the MyHEAT platform to mislead others. This applies to deceptive content as well as false representations, or any unauthorized use of the MyHEAT data for door-to-door, or online sales. MyHEAT reserves the right to pursue legal action who falsely claim that they represent, or are employed by MyHEAT.

Data Collected

We collect non-personally identifiable (anonymous) data from every visitor to maintain a high level of service to you. For example, we collect information such as your IP address (a unique number assigned to every computer on the internet), your domain type (e.g., .com, .net, .edu), and standard information included with every communication sent on the internet, such as web requests, the data sent in response to such requests, the device type, the browser type, the browser language, service provider, visitor demographics (city and country). To the extent we collect personally-identifiable information such as your email address, we will only use such information to provide you relevant information and updates about the MyHEAT platform. For example, we may send you promotional emails relating to MyHEAT, or other third-parties we feel you would be interested in, or communicate with you about your use of the MyHEAT platform. We may also use technology to alert us via a confirmation email when you open an email from us. You can modify your email notification preferences by clicking the appropriate link included in the footer of email notifications. If you do not want to receive email from MyHEAT, please opt out of receiving emails at the bottom of any MyHEAT emails, or by editing your profile preferences.

Sharing of Data

We do not share your personal information with third-parties. Only aggregated, anonymised data is periodically transmitted to external services to help us improve the MyHEAT platform and service. We currently use Google Analytics (traffic analysis, SEO optimization, anonymous analytics: ad serving domains, browser type, demographics, language settings, page views, demographics, browser type and version, device type and version, and location), Mailchimp (name and email for mailing list management), and FullStory (anonymous analytics: where users click, scroll, and traffic analysis). Feel free to check out their own Privacy Policies to learn more. MyHEAT has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third party information, sources, or services.

We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information we process and maintain. For example, we limit access to this information to authorized employees and contractors who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve the MyHEAT platform. Please be aware that, although we endeavour provide reasonable security for information we process and maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.

Please check this Privacy Policy from time to time, as we may amend or update this Privacy Policy at any time without notice. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is used. A user is bound by any changes to the Privacy Policy when he or she uses the MyHEAT platform after such changes have been first posted.
