Privacy Policy
Your privacy is important.
At MyHEAT, we care about your privacy and want you to be familiar with how we collect, use, and disclose information. Our policy helps us ensure a positive viewing experience of the MyHEAT data.
This Privacy Policy describes the practices in place for the collection and use of personal or corporate information provided to MyHEAT Inc. (“MyHEAT,” “us,” “we,” or “our”) through the use of the MyHEAT platform. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing and using the MyHEAT Platform, you agree that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. You accept and consent to the privacy practices that are described in this Privacy Policy.
We recognize that you trust us to act responsibly when you choose to provide us with information about yourself. As you use our services, we want you to understand how we are using the data and how you can protect your privacy. This Privacy Policy governs your use of the MyHEAT platform for both mobile and desktop devices.
Collection and Use of Personal Information
Personal information is data used to identify or contact a single person. We collect and store information that you enter on the MyHEAT platform, such as email addresses, survey responses. Before or at the time of collecting personal information, we will identify the purposes of the collected data.
We collect personally identifiable data from every visitor to maintain a high level of service to you. For example, we collect your IP address and standard information included with every communication sent on the internet, such as web requests, the data sent in response to such requests, the device type, the browser type, the browser language, service provider, visitor demographics (city and country). IP addresses are collected and temporarily stored on our customers’ visiting MyHEAT platform for associated performance metrics and analytics and monitoring and tracking application errors. We will never access these IP addresses without any operational or security need.
To the extent we collect personally identifiable information such as your email address, we will only use such information to provide you with relevant information and updates about the MyHEAT platform. For example, we may send you promotional emails relating to MyHEAT or other third parties we feel you would be interested in or communicate with you about your use of the MyHEAT platform. We may also use technology to alert us via a confirmation email when you open an email from us. You can modify your email notification preferences by clicking the appropriate link included in the footer of email notifications. If you do not want to receive emails from MyHEAT, please opt-out of receiving emails at the bottom of any MyHEAT emails or editing your profile preferences.
Cookies and Other Technologies
When you use the MyHEAT platform, we use cookies to track your preferences and activities to enhance your navigation through our site. Cookies are small data files (a text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters) transferred to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. A cookie may also convey information to users about how you use our platform (e.g., pages viewed, links clicked) and allows us or our partner organizations to track your usage of the MyHEAT platform over time.
In some of our, or our partner’s, user engagement messages, we use a “clickthrough URL” linked to content on the MyHEAT platform. When customers click one of these URLs, they pass through a separate web server before arriving at the destination page on our website. We track this clickthrough data to help us determine interest in particular topics and measure the effectiveness of our customer communications. If you prefer not to be tracked this way, you should not click text or graphic links in the messages.
MyHEAT Data
The HEAT Maps and HEAT Ratings (collectively referred to as the “MyHEAT data”) provided on our platform serves to enhance your viewing experience by helping you visualize the amount and location of invisible waste heat leaving your home. At MyHEAT, we go through great lengths to ensure that the MyHEAT data is accurate, helpful, and beneficial to users.
Sources of Imagery
Thermal imagery is collected using a thermal sensor attached to the bottom of an airplane. We only collect mid-wave thermal infrared energy (3-5 µm) emitted from the surface of the features (i.e., houses, roads, vegetation) composing the scene at the acquisition time.
We cannot identify any contents within the home. Additionally, we do not collect or publicly disclose any household-specific data regarding the number of occupants, age, gender, race, or income unless voluntarily provided by the user. Furthermore, this imagery is not collected in real-time.
Where Imagery Appears
Unless otherwise stated, all content that is published on the MyHEAT platform is public. The MyHEAT data may also appear on official websites of partner organizations and social or print media for marketing or educational purposes. If you wish to remove your home from the MyHEAT platform, please contact us, and it will be removed within 1-5 business days.
MyHEAT may work with partner organizations to offer MyHEAT data directly to customers on a confidential basis through a password-protected platform, print media, or on the partner organization’s authorized website for marketing or educational purposes.
